  Bikaner House
by AndreSTGT

Anyone who visits Rajasthan should at least once splurge and stay in one of the former Maharaja palaces which have been turned into beautiful hotels.
The Bikaner House is the former summer residence of the last Maharaja of Bikaner.
What i really loved about it, is that it has not yet been turned into a luxury hotel, therefore it has a lot of charm and old-world atmosphere.
The suites (2.000Rs.) are huge and stylish and though they're not luxurious in the ordinary sense, it's a place where one feels and breathes the spirit of a past era.

Unique Qualities: A little story : we went down to the reception and asked the concierge to buy us train tickets. An old woman who stood next to us at the reception and overheard our conversation told us that she will buy them for us, since she had to go to a travel agency anyway.
Well, this old woman turned out to be the daughter of the Maharaja and she actually went to buy us train tickets.

Price Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: Mt. Abu, close to the Dilwara Temples
Price: US$20-40
Theme: Hotel

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars
