one of the houses of Maalula

In Maalula you can't fail to notice and admore the houses, most of them are covered with a plaster in faded blue or mauve tones. It's supposed to be because of a Christian custom, one I was not found any explanation for - except maybe that it was once a sign/colour indicating purity. Mary's coat if often pained blue - but this is a very tentative explanation. If someone knows the real meaning, please let me know

Directions: all over town
