This restaurant and bar is located in the old McKinney prison building. They specialize in Texas style cuisine. There is a Hollywood flair with the two characters standing outside. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner. The menu and dish names are all in keeping with the theme of the restaurant being in a prison. The décor of course is extremely unique. As a prison, some of the more memorable meals eaten there were by an inmate who the sheriff found had been eating light bulbs. He had been doing this since he was a kid when there was nothing else to eat. The Sheriff put out an appeal to the public for any burned out light bulbs. The Prison Bars & Grill restaurant however doesn’t have ‘light bulbs’ on its menu.
