"The Last Supper" Cenacolo - Last Supper Tip by leffe3

Cenacolo - Last Supper, Milan: 49 reviews and 73 photos

One of the most famous pictures in the world. To be found in the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, it amazingly survived the bomb in WWII that destroyed a large part of the church. The church itself is a wonderful example of Renaissance architecture and is worth time exploring.
Note that to see The Last Supper is where Italian bureaucracy has gone crazy. Since the restoration, access is limited to timed groups of people (20 at a time). You get about 30 minutes in the refectory. Fair enough so far. Entrance is to the side of the church, with a modern foyer, information centre and box-office. Still fair enough. Try buying a ticket. Although there is a Box Office, tickets can only be bought at the PInacoteca Ambrosiana some 2 miles away. And as extra advice, it is likely that, because of the limited number allowed in at one time, tickets need to be bought a couple of days in advance of intended visit. So if your time is limited and yu want to see The Last Supper, arrange this first.
