The Old Town Square, Prague's core of activity, is dominated on one side by the towering spires of Our Lady before Tyn. Just looking at those 80m high spires recalls the essence of the Middle Ages. The church was started in the latter 14th century and finished over the next few centuries. From the pictures, the strangeness of its appearance come from those arched portals and odd 'apartments' at its foot, which are not part of the church itself but rather shops and clothiers in a separate construction. The entrance to the church is through one of these portals leading into a little alley (which also has souvenir shops and a music store). The church is often closed, which may or may not injure your impressions of Prague, considering its interior. Leave it to the twin spires, the city's most imposing facade.
