The museum... wonderful and interesting... it's worth visiting before actually getting out to see the ruins.Hereyou can get a tate of what you are going to see, and the leaflets in some of the rooms are very informative and give you some useful historical and archaeological background. In one rooms there's a really large reconstruction of the Temple of Bel - and it's a lot more interesting to see the ruins of the "real" temple if you can imagine just how much more impressive it would have once been. Really recommended. Entrance (dec 20029 was 150 syrian pounds. Like all museums note that it's closed on Tuesdays.

Directions: near the main street (sharia al quwatli) and opposite the karnak ticket office
