"Comfortable and budget accomodation in the center" Sretenskaya Hotel Moscow Tip by lidia664

I had to edit this comment and write-off some info as it was no longer valid. Few hotels, which I named befoer as a budget and centrally localted accomodation, were recently closed for complete renovation. But as far as I know those renovated and rebuilt hotels , which will be re-open in the coming years, will be also rebranded and ranked (and priced:)) as 5*hotels. For example, there will be Ritz hotel, which is going to be open soon, was build from the scratch at the place of previously demolushed 3 star hotel "Introurist", which was very much popular for tourists during long years.

I found out that travel agencies in other counties that arrange tours to Moscow deal with only a few hotels and if you call for a budget accommodation ( 3 star hotels) you would be offered a limited selection of 3 or 4 hotels in Moscow which by the way are not the best options for some reasons. I guess travel agent may propose you to choose either UKRAINE, or COSMOS.
UKRAINE and COSMOS are not that good situated (my personal oponion), UKRAINE is far from any metro station, but the building itself is marvelous, it is one of famous skyscrapers built during Stalin period. COSMOS was build in 1980 just before Olympic Games in Moscow by the group of French architects and it still looks fashionable but it also needs some fresh renovation, plus is it located close to big market place and a busy road junction so the pollution is really high there.

Unique Qualities: The best way to safe some money is to make a booking yourself via one of Moscow travel firms and choose that exact place that you like. If you plan to spend a reasonable amount for an accommodation and you are looking for a comfortable stay at a good (but not luxury) place close to the city center in a few minutes walk from metro station then ask for one of these hotels:

• SLAVYANSKAYA
• GOLDEN RING

A friend of mine who visited Moscow last year booked the hotel “SRETENSKAYA” via “Moscow Bureau of Voyage” which I recommended him to apply to. This firm has a good reputation and operates on the market for long years. They offer a good selection of different hotels from luxury palaces to reasonable good hotels in the center.

“SRETENSKAYA” is a newly open hotel and I myself did not know about it until I looked at their Internet page. The place is worth best comments. If you decide to book then do it via agency, they will offer you the better price that you can get directly from the hotel.
