"Rangers Vs. Celtic" Top 5 Page for this destination Berwick-Upon-Tweed Warnings Or Dangers Tip by Joe_Green

OK first off, this isn't as big a problem as maybe being Jewish in Baghdad, or dealing drugs in Thailand, but it's something you should at least be aware of. Berwick is in England, but it's population has a majority of Scots. Should you have the fortune/misfortune to arrive in Berwick, or anywhere in Scotland on the day of an 'Old Firm Match' (a football match between Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers, they're at least 4 a year) you will find every pub where the match is on divided into groups of Blue (Rangers) and Green (Celtic). Lets not beat around the bush people, this is not a jolly, good natured rivallry, this is arguably the most intensely hate fuelled rivalries in WORLD sport, I exagerate not! Now 9 times out of 10 (unless you're in Glasgow itself) theres no trouble, but just to warn you, if you ally yourself to a team, even for a bit of fun, and your team smashes the opposition, you will become a figure of loating for half the people in the pub, and if you cheer for a Rangers goal next to a celtic fan (+ vice versa) don't expect them to say "yes, I agree, it was a well scored goal"
