  US Capitol with sentry box
by mrclay2000

The casual eye will notice every large building in town, and the closer observer will note that countless statues and monuments commemorate so many persons famous to American History. There are however several little things that Washington contains that are less noticed, less known and less sought-after. Here for instance is a regular photo of the US Capitol. What's that thing down in the lower right corner? A telephone booth? No. It's one of the original sentry boxes that guarded gates in early Washington, one of several still standing in the city.
