"Friendly locals - can't do enough for you!" Turkey Favorite Tip by Leah1231

Favorite thing: The Turkish are such lovely people. We found the bent over backwards to accommodation our family. They particularly love children, and evening dinner meant built in baby- sitters, non intentional on our behalf, but very welcomed all the same!!

I must admit the first few days we were weary. We thought there had to be a catch, that perhaps most were only friendly because they wanted to sell us a carpet. But we were proven wrong time and time again.

The Turkish are very proud of their country (their flags fly everywhere!) and they feel it is their obligation to make you feel comfortable in their country.

A wonderful example was when we were sitting at some lights in I think Anatalya down South. We were lost, and trying to find out way by the map... A young man on a motor cycle tapped on our window, and asked if he could help us. We told him where we were trying to go, and he said "follow me!" he took us on a 10 minute drive to the exact location... (it would have taken us much longer without assistance!) We were so grateful, and ready to give him a tip, but he just smiled, said your welcome and rode off! Now THATS hospitality!!

Fondest memory: Sitting at any of the thousands of alfresco dinning areas, overlooking the sea, drinking fine beer, listening to their wonderful local music, eating fresh tomatoes, fish, breads etc.. The kids were able to play safely close by, and Mum and Dad were still able to have a relaxing holiday!
