Váci utca: "DUNA PLAZA" Budapest Shopping Tip by cobrioc

Budapest Shopping: 221 reviews and 278 photos

All year long, tourists and locals alike throng the pedestrian-only Váci utca, from the stately Vörösmarty tér, the center of Pest, across the roaring Kossuth Lajos utca, all the way to Vámház krt. Váci utca, and most of the pedestrian streets bisecting it, are lined with shops. Boutiques, not visible from the street, fill the courtyards. The prevalence of Euro-fashions is now the trend on Váci utca.

American-style malls have sprung up in Budapest over the past few years, and have proven immensely popular to Budapesters. Duna Plaza, XII. Váci út 178 (tel. 1/465-1220), is probably the most popular shopping center/entertainment complex, with 120 different shops (including a Virgin Records Megastore), a nine-screen "Hollywood Cineplex," snack bars and pubs, the best bowling alley in the city. Duna Plaza is open daily 9am to 9pm; the entertainment complex closes later.
