Favorite thing: The main things to remember in Thailand is Never touch any-one on the head or point your feet. take your shoes off in temples, holy places, homes and even sometimes in guesthouses and shops, and dress with respect in temples and places of worship, take your hat off cover your shoulders and legs, don't take a photo posing with a Buddhist image or climb on them. The King of Thailand is very much respected so don't make any untoward remarks about the monarchy. If people greet you with a wai (palms together like in prayer) you should wai back ,except for children, the higher the wai to your head the more respect it means, although in the tourist areas you won't find a lot of people doing this. The Thai people believe a lot in Face if you get into an argument then be calm and try not to raise your voice because if you try and get the better of a Thai person it's like he loses face which is an embarrassment to them. You will find that at train stations, cinemas and public places they will play the national anthem so stand and show respect, it is usually played a 6pm but not often in touristy places such as bars and clubs.
