Pete Maravich Assembly Center is the domed building to the right which is also known as the "Deaf Dome". The stadium which was opened in 1971 can seat over 14,000 spectators. The building was named after the late "Pistol Pete" Maravich, a LSU basketball star player who played three seasons and still currently holds the all-time career scoring record for the NCAA. He then went on to play professionally. At a cost of $11.5 million, the building is one of the most versatile on campus, providing a sports arena, concert facilities, and an auditorium. To the rear is Tiger Stadium, known as ?Death Valley?. The original seating capacity was 12,000 in 1926 and the total capacity now is 91,644.
