"no title" Puerto Maldonado Packing List Tip by renskeverheul

Puerto Maldonado What to Pack: 3 reviews and 1 photos

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: because of the mosquitoes I strongly recommend that you wear blouses or something. I am not a big supporter of insect-repellent because it's ***ing agressive and when you are in the forest with a burning eye because you forgot that you shouldn't wipe your eyes with your hands that just touched the repellent, you have a big problem, being 5 hours away from a hospital.
The mosquito's are most serious around sunset so stay inside or just run around or put your blouse tightly around you.
There isn't a lot of malaria around Maldonado but people suffer regularly from a disease (I think it is called Uta, but I am not sure) that is caused by sandflies and it results in wounds in the vulnerable parts of the body.
Also wear a cap or hat.

Photo Equipment: A very sensible lense, since it is dark in the forest but you probably want to make pictures of the animals in the trees, like the monkeys.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: A good flashlight.
A watch.
A whistle - so when something happens you can whistle.

Miscellaneous: Batteries for you flashlight. The ones they sell in Maldonado only last for a few hours or so.

Review Helpfulness: 2.5 out of 5 stars
