Alsacien Beaumont: "Alsacien Beaumont" Maastricht Restaurant Tip by ATLC

Maastricht Restaurants: 148 reviews and 219 photos

This restaurant presents the traditional French Alsacian cuisine.
The restaurant belongs to the hotel with the same name.
Service was friendly and very helpful although tempo could've been a little faster. After dinner it took some time to catch the waiter's attention to order coffee.
The interior is classical and could do with an upgrade.
The music was hideous! That familiar background piano stuff which doesn't enhance the great food at all.

The restaurant was full on a Saturday night (November 2002)

Favorite Dish: During ordering and apéritive, we were brought two amuses.
The first a trout mousse with red peppers and a curry sauce that I found tasted much like something from a packet. The mousse was lovely.
The second was an oyster, grilled with a little spinach. Glorious!

Entrée ? 20,50
- Duck liver, fried, with black pudding and fried apple slices with a cinnamon sauce
- Duck liver paté, homemade.

Comment: both entrées were delicious. The duck liver was fried to perfection (warm but almost raw). The blood sausage (black pudding) is made by a nearby butcher. The paté was perfect with a strongly present impression of eau-de-vie.

Main ? 25
- Alsacian sauerkraut (choucroute) with lobster, eel, fish terrine, salmon and a foamy Riesling sauce. The selection of fish depends on the market.
- Alsacian sauerkraut (choucroute) with wild pheasant (leg, sausage, filet...) and bacon.

Huge portions. Unfortunately I do not like eel, unless it is smoked. Very good quality.

Dessert - ? 12,50
- Pear tart with sorbet made of Gewürztraminer wine

Coffee with sweets and chocolates.
The wine menu boasts many Alsacian wines, also half bottles in many price ranges but about ?25-30 per bottle on average.
