Unique Qualities: This is the first room you enter after leaving the innocous reception area and I think I said "ohhhhh myyyyyyy goooooooodddddddddddd". You don't expect to step into a room full of Italian marble statues in a Scottish youth hostel! The castle was gifted with its full contents by the son of a Norwegian shipping magnate who had bought the castle from the Duchess. The actual bedrooms/dorms are nothing out of the ordinary but the public rooms are full of objets d'art, gilt framed portraits and sweeping stiarcases. They sit along side the normal hostel facilities like self catering kitchens and TV room. They also have a games room (down in the basement, we seemed to be the only people who ventured down there so had the pool table all to ourselves) and even board games you can rent. Breakfast is included and in summer you can pay extra (about 5) for a three course dinner. We had that one night and it was delicious so I would recommend it!

Price Comparison: least expensive
