Daman-e-Koh, Islamabad: 9 reviews and 16 photos
Take a trip up to the Margalla Hills behind Islamabad and escape the heat of the city for a bit of a breeze up high. The lookout at Daman-E-Koh affords stunning views of Islamabad, the Faisal Mosque and Rawal Lake and the twin city of Rawawlpindi in the distance.
We caught a taxi up there and avoided the restaurant and stall selling chep souvenirs and just checked out the views.
From up here, you realise just what a modern city Islamabad is, with an information board showing that building only commenced in the 1960's when Islamabad became the modern cpaital city. Also, its amazing how green the city is as you look out over the ruler-straight roads and see the large areas of park and gardens.
Be prepared to pay a few hunderd Rupees (about AUS$6) for the return cab fare, but it will depend on your driver and bargaining skills!
Address: Daman-E-Koh Lookout
Directions: At the Northern side of Islamabad - take the road through the checkpoint past the Islamabad Zoo (I think)
