White Rock is a small suburb of Dallas County 10 miles north of downtown Dallas. Today it is the largest public recreation area in Dallas attracting joggers, cyclists, boaters, fishermen and families all year round. White Rock Park covers an area of 2,115 acres, 1,077 acres if that is lake surface. It was been described in its early days as the 'soft soul of the city'. White Rock Lake is the centrepiece of the park. It is a manmade reservoir which was created in 1911 when White Rock Creek was dammed.

The Dallas Arboretum is laid out on 66 acres overlooking White Rock Lake. The Arboretum is made up of 66 superbly landscaped acres of towering trees and fragrant gardens which circle lush lawns. There's something to see year 'round, from the gorgeous blooms of springtime to the vivid colours of fall.
