"Take a Ferry Ride" Central Station Tip by BlueBerry_7

Central Station, Amsterdam: 58 reviews and 96 photos

The IJ ferry makes the 5-minute crossing of the IJ channel to north Amsterdam round the clock. It's free and offers a good view of the harbor, which makes it an ideal minicruise for the cash-strapped. Both ferryboats leave from De Ruyterkade, behind Centraal Station. The Buikersloterwegveer ("Buikersloot Road Ferry") leaves from Landing Stage 7 every 71/2 minutes from 6:30am to 9pm, and every 15 minutes thereafter. The IJ-Veer departs from Landing Stage 8 to a more easterly point on the north shore.
