This very ancient church was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1117, and was again badly damaged during the Second World War. It has nave, two aisles and three apses, and is built entirely of stone. It was of fundamental importance in the development of the Veronese Romanesque style, and many similar churces were modelled on it.
The church was first mentioned in 8th century, and the present look date back in 12th century.
The 15th century portal is of marble, covered by a porch. In the lunette is an important fresco by Stefano da Verona, depicting the Madonna and Saints.
In the Crypt there are two rare examples of Early Christian sculpture, both Sarcophagi. The first, of Saints Jude and Taddeus, the second probably of Roman origin, containing the figures of a husband and vife, with Saints Peter and Paul on the sides.
