"Cafe Du Monde" Food of N.O. Tip by acemj

This place is a local institution. You'll see tourists and locals at all hours as Cafe Du Monde never closes. It's famous for its cafe au lait and beignets (like a doughnut without the hole and lots of powdered sugar). I went here late one night and did what was required of me as a tourist and ordered the beingets and cafe au lait. The chickory spiced coffee is great and the beignets are sinful, but be careful because the powdered sugar gets messy. I also saw Dustin Hoffman filming a scene from "Runaway Jury" one day, so keep your eyes open for the scene in the movie. You'll find Cafe Du Monde at 1039 Decatur Street in front of Jackson Square at St. Ann.
