Midnight Special is the last of a dying breed in S. Monica. In days gone by, Santa Monica ws known as the people's Republic of Santa Monica, because of it's supposed Leftist Bent. Those days are pretty much gone, but Midnight Special is the last of the independant progressive bookstores still fighting the good fight. I buy most of my books there whenever I can. In addition to being one of the remaining non chains in an increasingly homogenous place, they also have lectures, readings, political discussions and all that good stuff. Buy your books there!
