"Lion's Roar" Paris Off The Beaten Path Tip by ExGuyParis
Paris Off The Beaten Path: 1,965 reviews and 4,156 photos
Another impressive work by Bartholdi, the sculptor responsible for "Liberty Enlightening the World" (a.k.a. the Statue of Liberty). This bronze lion is actually a smaller copy of a work Bartholdi created for the town of Belfort, about 500 km from Paris.
The lion's back is turned towards Germany to celebrate a French victory over the Germans in 1871.
You will find this recently-restored work at Place Denfert-Rocherau, close to the entrance of the catacombs.
