Jaques-Imo's: "Great Flavor of the South!" New Orleans Restaurant Tip by Jmill42

If you want prompt service, fancy menus, snooty waiters, and a sophisticated atmosphere look elsewhere. But if you are looking for REAL New Orleans cooking and a great place to hang out while eating it, then this is your place. Jaques-Imo's is known for having a pretty long wait and you have to walk through the kitchen to be seated, 'nuff said about the ambience. But there is a reason that locals keep flocking to this place, and when you start eating you'll know exactly why. The food is different than say, Emeril's. But the taste is at least par. So if you have read my tip on Emiril's and know how much I love that place (not just for the food, but the service, and the production of the whole thing) then I hope you will realize just how good this place is. It is definitely not as expensive as Emeril's, but you can certainly run up a bill without a problem. Prices here are about $25 with an appetizer and no drinks. Once again, this place is not to be missed.

Also, ask to be seated in the "truck." You'll know what I mean when you drive up!

Favorite Dish: If you haven't ever had duck or rabbit, this is the place where you need to begin. They have a few different kinds; I've had them all... All good.
