Villa Bertramka is now the Museum of Mozart and the Duseks. This former vineyard manor house was bought in 1784 by the Duseks (the singer Josefina Duskova and pianist Frantisek Dusek) and as they were Mozart?s sincere admirers they invited him to stay with them at the villa. He was later to call his stays at Bertramka the most beautiful moments of his life and it was there that he finished Don Giovanni in 1787. The museum was opened in 1956 and exhibits available personal things owned by Mozart and the Dusek couple, and musical instruments, manuscripts, letters, pictures, engravings, prints etc. from the period. There is also a music salon, used for musical purposes already in Mozart?s time, which now hosts regular chamber music performances.
