November 1st is All Saint Day and November 2nd - All Souls Day. Both are marked by colorful customs, family reunions, preparation of special food etc.
All Saints Day is set for remembrance of deceased infants and children referred to as angelitos (little angels). All Souls Day is for those who died as adults.
Altars in honor of deceased relatives are erected throughout cities, villages, homes and dressed up with special offerings to the dead (ofrenda de murtos), decorated with papel picado, candles, flowers, photographs of the departed and their favorite foods and beverages.
