"marine volcanoes" White Island Tip by margaretvn

White Island, New Zealand: 2 reviews and 6 photos

White Island lies 40 kilometres off the coast of the Bay of Plenty. It is a volcano with bubbling steam and spewing gasses. White Island Tours takes you out to the island with expert guides. They take you over the island showing you the remains of the old mining factory, walking along the sulphur deposits and as the cherry of the top of the cake up to the edge of the main crater. Morning refreshments are served on the trip out to the island and a delicious lunch is served after the trip before returning to land.
