.
You can buy a ticket for domestic trains in ticket-offices in any railway station, PKP offices, rarely in some tourist offices (sometimes they want small extra fee for this service).
.
You can buy a ticket in a train (except trains with compulsory reservation) from railway worker (train guard, conductor) - but remember you MUST report him that you don't have a ticket before entering the train or immediately after, usually he will remember you or give you a small piece of paper - confirmation that you reported it.
Then he will go from one end to the other of the train to check tickets, show him this "confirmation" paper and buy a ticket (only cash) - you will have to pay the additional small fee for it. Exception: there is no additional fee if you enter the train on the station without ticket-office or with closed ticket office.
.
Tickets for international trains are available only in railway stations in bigger cities/towns (= with conection to computer reservation net).
.
Tickets and "miejscowki" (reservation) for Ex,IC,EC trains are available by internet, phone and fax - READ NEXT TIP (still under construction).
.
In remote, small towns/villages sometimes there isn't any ticket office (just train stop) or the ticket-office opens 15-30 min. before the train departure haha.
