In the JJ weekend market or Chatuchak, you get almost everything you need to live on. It covers an area of about 40acres(I think) in the heart of Bangkok. Most things are cheaper than most other places you would find in Bangkok. However still, foreigners usually get higher prices than locals. Do not be afraid to be bargaining or slashing prices by 1/3 cos there will still always be a profit for the seller. Just used you common sense and estimate how much you should pay and don't give ridiculous prices as that can be quite offensive. It is very hot here and there is hardly any ventilation but the experience is just unforgettable!
