One of the great Spanish traditions, Tapas are small snacks or meals served with drinks in the bars. Originally given away free with drinks to encourage you to drink more. Nowadays there is normally a small charge, but this is not always the case, I found some given freely with drinks in Granada.
The variety is huge and varies from region to region. Ham, Cheese, Chorizo (Spanish sausage) or Fried Fish or Squid are common, along with small dishes of stews in the winter months. Sometimes they can consist of little more than Olives or Almonds, but often more substantial and well prepared meals are served.
If you are in Spain, dont miss out on Tapas, you can feast well upon them at very reasonable cost.
