A gigantic complex of Tibetan Buddhist temples. During the Great Proletarian Chinese Cultural Revolution, Premier Zhou Enlai took steps to save the Lamasery from destruction by over zealous Red Guards. Walking around the complex, you will see lots of people presenting incense at altars like the woman pictured here. There are some huge Buddha statues inside the temples as well as numerous other examples of Buddhist iconography.
