There is a small fishing village just over the bridge to Portimao called Ferragudo. Please take time to visit this place where you can eat freshly caught fish from the small restauraunts just 10 meters from the waters edge, indeed most of the restauraunts actually have their own fishing boats, talk about cutting out the middle man!
You can stroll along the waters edge watch the fishermen mending their nets and cross into the small main plaza, where you can rest your legs in one of the few cafes here you can watch the sport on tv or sit outside in the square but beware,as this square is at sea level when the tide comes in it actuall floods the square!Seriously it actually did it when we were there and we had to get our feet wet to get back to the car ,which was also surrounded by water, just look at the picture.
