"Part 6 of the cruise" Peso da Régua Transportation Tip by acilina

Peso da Régua Transportation: 8 reviews and 8 photos

14h45 - Arrival at Pocinho dam
Floodgate (20 meters difference in level)
We are near Vila Nova de Foz Coa. here there are remains left by romans and arabs. King D. Dinis had the mother church built here. There are water sports, handicrafts (copper an tin, laces and embroidery) the sausages, and the divine cookies and sweets made of almonds, eggs and sugar.
But, most of all, don't misss the Coa Valley Archaeological Park. It contains the largest single collection of Engraving as well as a number of Rupestrian Paintings from the Upper Palaeolithic, a unique site of outdoor figures consisting of successive works, marked by time, with intervals of thousand of years, depicting horses, the auroch and the ibex, the most commonly found figures. Executed with a single technique or combination of techniques ranging from fine line engravings and pecking to abrasion and scraping, the justaposition of the engravings records the beginings of mankind on the schist bedrock of the Coa Valley.
