"Schloss Hellenstein" Heidenheim an der Brenz Things to Do Tip by MEdelmann

This magnificant castle stands above the town. The first part of the castle of built at the beginning of the 12th century. In the "Rittersaal" (knight room), the opera festival of Heidenheim is held each year.
In 1530 the castle burnt down. It was reconstructed in the middle of the 16th century.
Between 1595 and 1611 there was built Schloss Hellenstein (palace) at the east side.
The castle lodges a local museum.
