"Athens 'Spyros Louis' Olympic Stadium" Olympic Stadium - Olympiako Stadio Tip by zos

The Athens Olympic Stadium is located in the area of the Athens Olympic Athletic Centre installations (OAKA) in the northern Athenian district of Marousi. It has temporarily stopped operating due to reconstructions for the upcoming Olympic Games of 2004. The Olympic Stadium was named 'Spyros Louis Stadium' after the great Marathon gold winner of the first modern Olympic Games of 1896 in Athens. It was originally built in 1982 and takes up to 75,000 spectators. It has been awarded as a 4-star football stadium by UEFA. It has been the home of Panathinaikos FC from 1984 to 2000, who then returned to their official home in 'Apostolos Nikolaidis' Stadium. It's the home of the Greek National Football team. It has hosted many European football games, among them, the Champions Cup Final in 1983 and 1994, and the Cup Winners Final in 1987. Also the 1997 IAAF World Championship was held here. The OAKA centre will host most of the sports of the 2004 Olympic Games. Many people have worked these years for the best results regarding the final shape of the Olympic Centre hoping for an ultimate Olympic Games experience.
