"USS Alabama" Mobile Things to Do Tip by keeweechic
Mobile Things to Do: 151 reviews and 265 photos
The USS Alabama was a winner of nine battle stars in World War II and shot down 22 enemy airplanes. It was first commissioned in 1942 and its quite an impressive sight at 680 ft in length and a width of 108ft 2?. Under battle conditions she weighed in at well over 45,000 tons. She had 127 officers and 2,205 enlisted crew. Alabama was "mothballed" in Bremerton, Washington until 1964, when she was transferred to the State of Alabama.
Because we were staying opposite, we were able to walk across and take night photos - really impressive at night.
Address: Battleship Memorial Park, 2703 Battleship Pkwy
