"Alpine Loop" Alpine Favorite Tip by la_beba

Alpine General: 1 reviews and 1 photos

Favorite thing: In the shadow of 11,750-foot Mt. Timpanogos, this Utah favorite affords the visitor spectacular views of and access to the Timpanogos and Lone Peak Wilderness Areas. Lush vegetation and alpine vistas viewed through aspen groes surround campgrounds, trails, and some of Utah County?s favorite attractions. This backway is a paved, two-lane road.
Because of the steep grade and narrow curves, pulling trailers is prohibited. On its northwestern end, the backway descends into American Fork Canyon. This intimate canyon features towering rock formations, picnic areas, and campgrounds. The challenging vertical surfaces are a favorite for rock and mountain climbers. Please visit my Alpine Loop travelogue for pictures of the beautiful aspen trees that can be found there.
