"Hike the James Irvine Trail..." Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park Favorite Tip by worldtrekker

Favorite thing: Hike the James Irvine Trail from the Elk Prairie Visitor Center to Fern Canyon and Gold Bluffs Beach. The hike takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours each way although you could easily take longer if you really want to enjoy your surroundings. If you want to make a loop out of it, you can also hike the Miner's Ridge trail back, but I don't have any info on that. This pic was taken near the start of the hike by the visitor center. These redwoods have grown all around the larger burnt out redwood in the center.
