I went to Gandia for a day out .It is 32km North of Denia on the N-332.The town has wide promenades and 8 miles of good beaches.I enjoyed visiting the Palacio de los Duques(Palace of the Dukes of Gandia). The Palace is open to visitors and guided tours go several times a day.The Forth Duke of Gandia joined the Jesuit here after his wife died.Saint Francis Borja was who he became .The Palace is now a Jesuit college. You can visit his private Chapel etc.

You can reach Denia either from Alicante about 90km South or from Valencia which is about 90km North.Denia is the main town of the region(El Marquesat). The Costa Blanca begins here and the scenery here is wild and rugged and dramatic. The land is very fertile as the soil is rich in clay which helps retain water.Palms, carobs, oranges grapes and almonds are grown here.
