"Be Prepared!!" Yermo Packing List Tip by lmkluque
Yermo What to Pack: 1 reviews and 1 photos
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Desert travel can be dangerous. Bring heavy high top shoes to protect yourself from snake bites. Bring a hat to cover your head from the blistering sun. Bring UV protective sunglasses. Make sure to have a swim suit with you for a dip in KOA's refreshing pool on your return from exploring.
Spending the day at Calico or the Early Man Site might not seem like a big deal in terms of safety and the idea of being in the Mojave Desert might not send out any warning signals, until something unexpected happens.
The Barstow Field Office of the U.S. Dept. of the Interior Bureau of Land Management gives specific Desert Survival Tips that would be useful and possibly life saving.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring plenty of sunscreen to apply as often as needed. More than any thing, bring LOTS OF WATER for you and your car!!!!
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: KOA's and the campground at Calico Ghost Town have hook-ups for campers and mobile homes, but they also offer Tent sites, so feel free to bring your tent, and camping gear.
