The Old North Bridge. This strategic bridge was the site of a major Revolutionary War battle in 1775 which was the first American victory. British regulars marched from Boston to seize an arsenal hidden somewhere in Concord and smashed their first resistance on Lexington Green. Continuing through Concord, they met the rebel force at the bridge and were defeated, hastily retreating to Boston afterwards. The current bridge is a reconstruction from the 1960s, the original bridge having collapsed long ago. On the grounds are the Old Manse, a beautiful old farmhouse, as well as a museum detailing the battles in the area. There are also canoe and kayak rentals to ply the Concord River.

Directions: The Old North Bridge is located just off Monument Street. Take Monument Street north out of Concord center and park on the right side of the street, right before the road bridge.
