"Natural Opening with an urban legend " Pozo de Jacinto Tip by Gypsystravels

Pozo de Jacinto, Isabela: 1 reviews and 1 photos

Located on the beach of Jobos in Isabella is the natural opening made by the sea which has a interesting tale attached to it. It is said that the name derived from a farmer by the name of Jacinto who had a herd of cows he would walk along this area.

One of these cows was a favorite of his and he would tie her to himself while he walked the rest of the herd. One day, as he was walking with he cow, she wandered too close to the opening and fell in dragging Jacinto with her causing them both to die. Legends says that when you are close to the opening and yell "Jacinto, dame la vaca!" (which means Jacinto, give me the cow), that a big wave bursts into the well shooting up from the hole as an angry response "you are not taking my cow."

And from that time on, the well is now referred to El Pozo de Jacinto (Jacinto's Well). So, if you are ever in this area, ask the locals where to find "El Pozo de Jacinto" and they will direct you to this natural opening. And, if you want, ask Jacinto to give you his cow and see if he responds :)
