Next to the entrance gate stands the monument to Mastino II, built between 1340 and 1350.
The monument is rised on columnsa and like the earlier monument to Cangrande, the tomb lies under a Gothic canopy with decorated finials, surrounded by four small tabernacles, its pyramid crowned by the statue of the prince on horseback.
The tomb itself is carved in high relief with figures of angels at each corner.
