Bokeljska noc (the night of Boka) is annual traditional event, a big feast held in August, when the whole city is decorated and there are fire torches lit on the hills behind the town, along the old walls going uphill to the fortress ruins. There are fireworks and various competitions (especially in singing and decorating ships). Everyone decorates their boats and vessels, people are very imaginative, and then they make a defile around the bay in Kotor, choosing the winner with the best decoration. It's carnival alike!
Afterwards there is a huge party in the old town, which transforms into enormous night club! Lots of people gather in Kotor that night for a wild night, and its usual population of 5.000 increases to over 30.000 that evening!
Here you can see the fireworks after the ship defile.
