Favorite thing: The French Hospital was a place of sanctuary in the 1700's for french protestants and their descendants living in Britain. King William and Queen Mary were asked by a Huguenot - Jacque de Gastigny in 1708 if french protestants could stay in this country. A royal charter was granted in 1718 by George I.
Huguenots families who were expelled from France were given shelter in England.
These properties are now privately owned flats for the elderly of Huguenot descendants.
They look really pretty and each has their own front garden which are beautifully kept.
