Originally, Nasi Goreng is an Indonesian dish. Since the Dutch colonised this huge island country, Indonesian food has become integrated into Dutch cuisine.
There are various ways to make Nasi Goreng and there are many variations. Here's one of them.
3 1/2 cups of rice
1/2 pound pork or chicken
1/4 pound ham
2 tablespoons chopped onions
1 clove garlic
2 leeks
2 lomboks (chili peppers)
1/2 teaspoon trassi (fermented shrimp, can be left out)
ketjap (thick, syrupy soy sauce)
2 eggs
plenty of parsley

Boil rice and set aside to cool. Cut meat or chicken in small cubes. Fry onion, chilies, trassi and garlic in some oil, add meat and brown. Add finely chopped leek and ham. Add the rice and stir well over a high flame. Flavour with salt and ketjap. Finally mix in plenty of finely chopped parsley
Now that's finished.
Make two or three very thin omelettes, roll them up tightly and cut into very thin slices. Decorate the nasi with that and serve with shrimp crackers.
