"The Serranos Towers" Valencia Things to Do Tip by Edu_G

Valencia Things to Do: 525 reviews and 1,179 photos

The towers were one of the entrance gates to the city, when it was surrounded by a wall (it was one of the city's defensive constructions). Built if 1391 by Pere Balaguer, he wanted an elegant access to the city more than a defensive work. The gates said welcome to the visitors of the city who came from Zaragoza, Barcelona and the interior regions of the kingdom of Valencia. There's a pit sorrounding the towers, but in the back side. They were used as jail for noble people for some time. From the towers beginning of Las Fallas is announced every year.

Address: C/Blanqueries
