From the Lindos town there is some 15-minute climb to the Acropolis (entrance ?6) . The final approach ascends a steep flight of stairs, past a marvelous 5th century BC relief of the prow of a Lindian ship, carved into the rock; and though the main gate of the Crusader castle. The entrance to the Acropolis, almost all of it undergoing restoration, takes you through the medieval castle, with the Byzantine chapel of St. John on the next level above. On the upper terraces are the remains of the elaborate porticoes and stoas, initially restored by the Italians.
