"Archaeological Restoration At Your Front Door" Casa Santo Domingo Tip by NitnyLeo

Casa Santo Domingo, Antigua Guatemala: 1,140 reviews and 25 photos

Fountain courtyard between the Hotel and Monastery
by NitnyLeo

As is typical with an Antiguan property (with its 10 ft. walls and imposing doors), your jaw will drop when you cross the threshold from the street. You are greeted with lush foliage that will lead you to the front desk. Once at the front desk, you may feel the need to genuflect and make the sign-of-the-cross (even if you're not Catholic), because it does resemble an altar and seems to command reverance. But the staff will treat you like a personal guest and will provide excellent service. The rooms are decorated in a colonial Spanish motif with big, dark furniture that is very comfortable....for $80 dbl, you can't go wrong.

Unique Qualities: This is a top-of-the-line hotel (at least 4 star) that is built on the grounds of the Santo Domingo Monastery. Gorgeous grounds, including pool, include easy access to the ruins of the monastery. Excellent service.
