the entrance hall

By tradition, the entrance hall is the continuation of the main square. The administrative department could be reached from this hall. The three doors in the back wall lead to the former clerks room, the one in the right wall was the entrance to the registry.
The ceiling is supported by seven beams. The restored beam-ends nad corbels, carved by Willem Ards, represent scenes of the Old Testament.
The motifs were deliberately chosen as example of the righteous policy.
On the front wall the flags of the seven Leuven "boroughs": Leuven, Heverlee, Kessel-Lo,and Wilsene.
In the hall at your right site, the Belgian flag, The European flag and that of the Flemish Communicty
